A bit about me
I'm a painter based in North Texas.
I work in acrylics. I love painting on wood, rather than canvas, because I love the durability of its surface and the freedom it offers to use unconventional tools (like a metal stylus, a chopstick, or even a plastic fork) to create lines and textures on its surface.
My work focuses on calm, quiet moments - typically with a swirly, starry night sky hung with a crescent moon - painted in dark, moody colors and created with lots of little details for your eye to follow. It's my hope that in following the swirl of a starry path or the zig and zag of a mushroom's stalk you'll lose yourself in the moment and be able to relax - if only for a few precious moments.
That's what art is for me - a moment of happy escape from a world which I'm finding so loud, so angry, and so sad. That's what I hope it offers you, too.
I take my inspiration from the land where I live. My husband and I, along with our dogs and a few cantankerous hens, find refuge in the 35 acres of native grasslands and oaks that surround our slightly crumbling / constant project / ridiculous home. Though, while it's not always green and lush here, it will always be that way in my paintings.
I love participating in art shows in my area, so please follow me on Instagram (@sarahctaylorcreates) to keep up with my upcoming events. I would love to meet you!
